Cutting edge care across the lifespan.
Origins
Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialists LLC was established in 2021 by Dr. JenFu Cheng. At that time, Dr. Cheng had already been in practice serving children and adults with disabilities for over fifteen years. As Section Chief of Physiatry at RWJ-Barnabas Health-Children’s Specialized Hospital, Dr. Cheng grew and led a wonderful team of Pediatric Physiatrists as well as created programs including the CSH Center for Cerebral Palsy. Looking to continue to innovate in order to provide optimal care for his patients in this ever-changing healthcare landscape, Dr. Cheng transitioned to private practice where he could create a Center to best meet the needs of his patients.
Unique
Equipment
Because there is such an integral connection between the medical and therapy aspects of rehabilitation, we have equipped our office with a comprehensive collection of innovative therapy equipment. This allows us to utilize therapy equipment during an individual’s Physiatry evaluation, trialing different interventions. It also allows us to instruct patients and their families on how to carry out these treatments as part of their home exercise program.
Research
For optimal results, care must be at the “cutting edge.” Research is very important in order to help advance knowledge and treatments for the future. But, research studies can also offer opportunities to access treatments and therapies that would otherwise be unavailable or are too costly for patients. Because of our involvement in many research studies, we are able to offer patients the opportunity to participate research studies that may be a helpful component of their comprehensive treatment plan. We are very selective, choosing only the safest and highest quality studies that would be of benefit for our patients.
Adult Services
Finding high quality Physiatry services for adults with childhood-onset conditions is often challenging. Our goal is to take the challenge out of it. Because of our extensive knowledge of how childhood-onset conditions impact an individual’s health and well being, we are uniquely equipped to provide Physiatry service throughout one’s lifespan.
